Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy recently covered Woody Guthrie’s “Union Maid.” Tweedy’s version is part of the soundtrack for the Jesse Eisenberg-directed film When You Finish Saving the World.
When You Finish Saving the World is Eisenberg’s directorial debut. The movie also features a score by Emile Mosseri and music from Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, who stars in the film.
Eisenberg tapped Tweedy to record Woody’s labor anthem “Union Maid,” with its famous “I’m sticking to the union” refrain. Tweedy is no stranger to the works of Woody Guthrie as Wilco and Billy Bragg recorded two albums, Mermaid Avenue (1998) and Mermaid Avenue Vol. II (2000), utilizing Guthrie lyrics.
