Earlier this month Chicago-based rock band Wilco celebrated the one year anniversary of the surprise release of their 2015 LP Star Wars by sharing previously unheard single “Locator.” The band fronted by Jeff Tweedy traveled to Japan to play the Fuji Rock Festival this past weekend and offered the first live rendition of the song.
Tweedy and the other five members of Wilco played the Green Stage on Saturday, July 23. They opened their set with the Star Wars tracks “More…” and “Random Name Generator” before offering a take on the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot favorite “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart.” Next came “Art Of Almost” which appeared on their 2011 The Whole Love LP ahead of the live debut of “Locator.”
Wilco’s set also included A Ghost Is Born selections “Handshake Drugs,” Hummingbird” and “Spiders (Kidsmoke)” as well as additional Star Wars songs such as “Pickled Ginger” and “Cold Slope.” Continue down the page for audience-shot video clips from Fuji Rock.
