By the time 2016 ends Wilco will have performed on four different continents as today the band has not only announced a series of West Coast dates in the U.S. but their first ever tour of South America. Wilco has only performed in South America once over the course of their 21-year history, a 2005 festival gig in Brazil.

“It’s not an understatement to say our South American fans are among our most enthusiastic in the world,” frontman Jeff Tweedy said in a statement. “We hear from them often, and many of them have made trips to see Wilco in places far from their homes. They’ve been waiting patiently a long time for us to come there, and I am happy to say the wait is over. Get ready South America! We’ll be there soon!” The October tour combines festival appearances and headlining concerts in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina.

As for U.S. fans, those out west will have more opportunities to see Wilco when they embark on a brief headlining run in August and September. Wilco will play Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City on August 30 followed by Boise’s Morrison Center on August 31 and two nights at Seattle’s Moore Theatre on September 2 – 3. The group then heads to Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland on September 4 ahead of five shows at San Francisco’s famed The Fillmore September 6 – 11 (there is no show on the 8th). Tweedy & Co. end the run with three nights at L.A.’s Theatre at the Ace Hotel September 13 – 15.
