Georgia rockers Widespread Panic first played the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on September 14, 1991. Since that time they have returned over a dozen times for more than 40 sold-out performances at the scenic venue. Last night the band kicked off this year’s three-night stand and had a fun treat in store for the end of the show.

After two power-packed sets, Widespread Panic began a three-song encore with a cover of Talking Heads’ “Papa Legba.” The encore continued with “Life During Wartime” before the show came to a close with yet a third Talking Heads cover -“City Of Dreams.” The other big surprise was the return of “Bayou Lena” towards the end of the second set. John Bell & Co. last performed the original tune way back on November 28, 2008 -a span of 347 shows.

Tonight, Widespread Panic returns to Red Rocks for a show that will be webcast in HD and SD video formats.
