Widespread Panic unveiled the new studio track “We Walk Each Other Home.” Out today via the band’s Widespread Records imprint, the single three weeks after the release of fellow 2024 studio cut “Little By Little.”

“Little By Little” and “We Walk Each Other Home” are the first new Widespread Panic studio singles since “Sundown Betty” arrived in 2020. The sextet’s last studio album, Street Dogs, was released back in 2015.

Widespread Panic premiered “We Walk Each Other Home” live on July 30, 2023 in Huntsville, Alabama. The song has been played five additional times since including on the final night of their three-night stand in St. Louis last month.

Other originals debuted by Widespread Panic in recent years are “Halloween Face,” “King Baby,” “Blue Carousel” and “Tackle Box Hero.” Panic has not revealed whether the studio singles “We Walk Each Other Home” and “Little By Little” are part of a bigger project.

Sung beautifully by guitarist John Bell, “We Walk Each Other Home” seems to be about saying farewell to a longtime friend, perhaps a pet. The artwork for the single features two dogs and a cat. Acoustic and electric guitars meld perfectly on the track as it builds to a crescendo.

Widespread Panic was supposed to kick off a three-night stand at The Chicago Theatre tonight. The run was postponed and rescheduled due to “unexpected health issues” faced by a member of the band.
