Widespread Panic Honors Iggy Pop In Washington D.C.

Georgia rockers Widespread Panic kicked off a two-night stand at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. last night. The band paid tribute to rock legend Iggy Pop and busted out a rare instrumental as part of Tuesday night’s show.

Panic opened last night’s second set with their first rendition of the instrumental “A of D” since July 2, 2014 making Tuesday’s version the first featuring Duane Trucks on drums. Later in the set, bassist Dave Schools sang lyrics from Iggy Pop’s “TV Eye” during the nightly drums and bass segment. Iggy Pop celebrated his 68th birthday yesterday which presumably led to the tribute.

Widespread Panic returns to the Warner Theatre tonight.
