Susanna Hoffs Details 1st New Original Album In 14 Years ‘The List’ & Shares ‘Casablanca’ Single

Susanna Hoffs will issue a new album, The List, on September 18 via her label Baroque Folk. The Bangles co-founder also shared the lead single, “Casablanca.”

The List marks Susanna Hoffs’ first album of new original material since 2012’s Someday. CJ Camerieri (Bon Iver, Paul Simon, yMusic) produced the new 12-track LP, which sees contributions from Rufus Wainwright, Dan Wilson, Edie Brickell, Greg Leisz and others.

“The List is what happens when an artist and her closest friends gather around the kitchen table and share the stories that define one’s life: heartbreak, an empty nest, a new crush, foolish mistakes and the fading memory of what that might have been,” press materials for the album noted.

The first glimpse at The List is the opening track “Casablanca.” Hoffs drew inspiration for the song from the iconic 1942 film of the same name as well as a “surreal” meeting in New Orleans with the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir in 1988, “a walk through the French Quarter, an impromptu parade of Dead Heads forming behind them,” as per the press release.
