Widespread Panic Covers David Bowie & Leonard Cohen In Richmond
By Scott Bernstein Feb 13, 2016 • 11:52 am PST
Widespread Panic continued Winter Tour last night with a performance at the Altria Theater in Richmond, Virginia. Bassist Dave Schools’ hometown was treated to a show heavy on older material that included the return of two covers debuted on New Year’s Eve in Atlanta.
The Georgia rockers unveiled a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” at the Fox on New Year’s Eve just days before the legendary performer passed away. Widespread Panic showed their cover of “Heroes” (not to be confused with the original of the same name) wasn’t a one-and-done affair as the Bowie smash was performed as part of last night’s second set. The same could be said about WSP’s version of the Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah” which led off the encore on Friday night. Next up for Panic is a two-night stand in Columbia, South Carolina.
