Georgia rockers Widespread Panic have opened their vault to release a performance from Fall 2001 as the latest installment of the Porch Songs series. An official recording of the band’s November 18, 2001 concert at Independence Arena in Charlotte is available for purchase in multiple formats here.

The show features the classic WSP lineup of guitarists John Bell and Michael Houser, bassist Dave Schools, percussionist Sunny Ortiz, keyboardist JoJo Hermann and drummer Todd Nance. Panic was joined by old friends Jerry Joseph on guitar and vocals and Brad Rosen on percussion for a memorable “Cortez The Killer” > “Drive” > “Climb To Safety” sequence, while Rosen stuck around for the “Drums” that followed. The performance of Joseph’s “Drive” was the second and last WSP take on the tune.
