White Denim released “Look Good,” a new single featuring guest vocalists Tameca Jones and Jessie Payo and Jesse Chandler (Mercury Rev/Midlake) on flute. The track appears on the forthcoming White Denim album, 12, which arrives on December 6 through Bella Union.

The aptly named 12 is the 12th studio album by White Denim, the project helmed by multi-instrumentalist James Petralli. The 12-track LP is the first White Denim album entirely produced by Petralli, who was influenced by Nick Lowe, Jonathan Richman, Doug Sahm and Joe Jackson while writing the record.

Petralli shared a message accompanying the release of the “‘80s-indebted funk-pop” track “Look Good,” stating:

“I kept hearing ‘Genius Of Love’ by Tom Tom Club while shopping for razors, aspirin, and cereal and would find myself thinking ‘I really enjoy the music of Orange Juice.’ The light bulb illuminated fully finally one day in the middle of aisle 9 …

“I basically created loose guide vocals for [Jones and Payo’s] parts and booked studio time for them in their cities and they sent back their vocal tracks. Jessie Chandler from Midlake/Mercury Rev similarly contributed woodwinds to that piece from afar.”

“Look Good” was shared with an accompanying live performance video recorded at Altamira Sound in Alhambra, California and featuring Dawes guitarist Taylor Goldsmith. Watch the clip below:
