“Weird Al” Yankovic and Will Forte performed a cover of Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” on Saturday night at Kansas City’s Uptown Theater. The pair were participants in this year’s Thundergong! 2024 charity event hosted by Forte’s former Saturday Night Live castmate, Jason Sudeikis.
Thundergong! raises funds for the Steps Of Faith Foundation which supports amputees and provides prosthetic care assistance. Thundergong! 2023 generated $900,000 for Steps Of Faith, bringing the annual event’s seven-year total to more than $3 million.

Along with “Weird Al” and Forte, Thundergong! 2024 featured Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso co-stars Brendan Hunt and Cristo Fernández, Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav, Olympic athletes Tara Davis, Hunter Woodhall and Lacy Henderson and musician/producer Jason Barnes. Local Kansas City-based band Summer Breeze served as the house band for the event.
Forte prefaced his performance with “Weird Al” by suggesting the parody musician try something different and sing a song without changing the lyrics. “Weird Al” accepted the “novel” offer and proceeded to launch into Chappell Roan’s ubiquitous hit “HOT TO GO!,” with the pair demonstrating the anthem’s signature choreography.
