By Scott Bernstein Mar 7, 2016 • 8:25 am PST
Last night, the inaugural Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival came to a close at Lake Okeechobee in Florida. Among the performers on Sunday at Okeechobee was Ween, who played their first festival set since reuniting earlier this year.
Guitarists Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman and Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo as well as keyboardist Glenn McClelland, drummer Claude Coleman Jr. and bassist Dave Dreiwitz played a 90-minute set containing 19 songs. Ween mixed classics such as “Roses Are Free,” “Transdermal Celebration,” “Take Me Away” and “Touch My Tooter” with rarities including “Boys Club,” “Transitions” and “Did You See Me.” The set came to a close with a two-song encore of “Big Jilm” and “Homo Rainbow.” All 19 tunes Ween performed in Florida were played at some point during the band’s three-night stand at Broomfield, Colorado’s 1stBank Center between February 12 – 14.
JamBase contributor L. Paul Mann was on the scene at Okeechobee. Check out his coverage of the PoWoW! SuperJam from Saturday and here for L. Paul’s photos and review of Thursday at Okeechobee and here for Friday as well as here for Saturday.
Courtney Riley streamed the set on Periscope and the footage is now on YouTube:
