Waxahatchee & MJ Lenderman Get ‘Right Back To It’ At Hopscotch Festival

Waxahatchee (singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield) headlined the first night of the 2024 Hopscotch Music Festival on Thursday in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Crutchfield was once again joined by close collaborator and Carolina-born singer-songwriter MJ Lenderman across her 24-song performance.

Asheville-native Lenderman contributed extensively to Waxahatchee’s superb 2024 album, Tigers Blood. Lenderman’s surprise appearance came on the eve of the arrival of his new album, Manning Fireworks, which was released today on ANTI- Records.

Thursday’s sit-in at Hopscotch saw Lenderman join Crutchfield and her band on the Tigers Blood single, “Right Back To It,” as well as “Burns Out at Midnight” and its title track. The guest guitarist also joined in during the encore on the recently introduced Waxahatchee original, “Much Ado About Nothing.”

MJ Lenderman is slated to perform today at Hopscotch. Tickets to Lenderman's recently announced 2025 tour dates are on sale today as well.
