Counter-culture icon, activist and Seva Foundation co-founder Wavy Gravy will be honored on May 16 with a special benefit concert at The Masonic in San Francisco. Steve Earle, Todd Rundgren, Rickie Lee Jones and Cat Power lead an impressive roster of musical all-stars set to perform at the celebratory show, with proceeds supporting Seva’s work to prevent blindness and restore sight worldwide.
Lebo (Dan Lebowitz), Peter Rowan, Maria Muldaur, Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams and Harper Simon also join Wavy Gravy on the lineup for the benefit concert. Special guests are expected.
Larry Campbell will serve as musical director for Wavy Gravy’s 90th birthday celebration. The house band also features bassist Tony Garnier, pedal steel specialist Greg Leisz, keyboardist Matt Rollings, vocalist Vicki Randle and drummer Denny Fongheiser.
Wavy Gravy turns 90 on May 15, one day before the benefit concert. Founded in 1978, Seva has helped over 75 million people in underserved communities worldwide get the eye care they need to prevent and treat blindness.
