CHRISTMAS JAM EXPANDED TO TWO DAYS
FOR 25TH ANNIVERSARY INSTALLMENT

It’s hard to believe that this year’s Christmas Jam will be the 25th annual installment of the festival. Each December Warren Haynes brings an always impressive lineup of his musical friends to his hometown of Asheville, NC to raise money for the Asheville Area Habitat For Humanity. The 2013 Christmas Jam will be different than the last few events for many reasons including length.

According to the Citizen-Times, on Friday Haynes revealed that this year’s Christmas Jam, the 25th, will take place over two days. Warren was visiting his hometown to receive an honorary degree from UNC Asheville and to present the keys to a new Habitat For Humanity family. Though the Allman Brothers Band/Gov’t Mule guitarist told the Citizen-Times about his plan to expand the 2013 Christmas Jam, he didn’t reveal any dates. Warren’s wife and manager Stefani Scamardo did mention she has been working on the lineup and thinks it will be the best lineup to date and that we’ll “see a lot of Warren-related projects” on the bill.

Back in 2008, Haynes presented two nights worth of music at the Asheville Civic Center for the 20th annual Christmas Jam – which was the last time the event spanned two evenings. The formidable lineup for #20 featured Gov’t Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, Steve Earle, John Paul Jones, Ben Harper & Relentless7, The Del McCoury Band, The Derek Trucks Band, Michael Franti, Dumpstaphunk and many more. Over the years Haynes has used the money raised from the concerts to build more than 20 affordable houses for area residents.
