Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes recently stopped by the PBS studios to film an appearance on Metro Focus. Haynes spoke about the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration he played on Monday night in NYC’s Central Park, music education, the Grateful Dead and other topics with host Noah Eckstein.
One of the more interesting discussions came when the host asked about what the jamband scene will look like in the year 2036. “If a lot of the bands that are playing now are still around, it’s going to look old,” Warren joked before adding, “hopefully it will contain a lot of new music that none of us can even predict.” He also mentioned he hopes the jam scene continues to widen its scope. “The cool thing about the jam band scene is that these bands are playing a different setlist every night, they’re making improvisation the life blood of the music and they’re building a scene where the audience is part of that,” Haynes said about his appreciation for the jam band community.
