Warren Haynes Teams With Bob Weir & Wolf Bros At Capitol Theatre Finale

Bob Weir and Wolf Bros wrapped up their two-night stand at The Capitol Theatre on Saturday. For the second night in a row at the historic rock palace, the three-piece was joined by a special guest as Warren Haynes helped them close out the show.

Weir, drummer Jay Lane and bassist Don Was got their night going in the New York City suburb with “Bertha.” The threesome would stick to the Grateful Dead songbook next with “Friend Of The Devil” and “Tennessee Jed.” Bob Dylan’s “Queen Jane Approximately” came ahead of the night’s first segued-filled run. Weir & Co. would string together a pair of Ratdog selections with “Even So” and “October Queen” before making their way into latter-day Dead staple “Corrina.” “Deal” brought the band’s penultimate set in Port Chester to a close.

The classic pairing of “Lost Sailor” and “Saint Of Circumstance” got the second stanza off the ground. The Go To Heaven tracks segued into Howlin’ Wolf’s blues classic “Smokestack Lighting.” Weir, Lane and Was then dug in on “Eyes Of The World” before looking to another late-period Dead tune “Eternity.” “The Other One” kicked off the final stretch of the night. The jam-vehicle made its way into a tender “Stella Blue.” Haynes emerged next as the guitarist locked in with Weir on a jazzy exploratory jam before they returned back to “The Other One.” The augmented ensemble then brought the set to an end the way they started their show on Friday with a rousing take on Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away.” “Turn On Your Lovelight” occupied the encore slot with Weir and Haynes sharing vocal duties on the Bobby “Blue” Bland tune.
