By Scott Bernstein Mar 4, 2016 • 7:46 am PST
Warren Haynes‘ tour with the Ashes & Dust Band continued on Thursday night at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Warren and his group – consisting of members of ChessBoxer and drummer Jeff Sipe – worked a pair of cover debuts into a performance that included two encores last night.
The band opened up with the Ashes & Dust track “Is It Me Or You” before Warren led the ensemble on his Jerry Garcia tribute, “Patchwork Quilt.” Gov’t Mule classics “Banks Of The Deep End” and “Tastes Like Wine” were among the songs performed ahead of the Ashes & Dust Band debut of the Grateful Dead’s “Candyman.” There were a number of Allman Brothers Band covers played in the main set such as “Blue Sky,” “Instrumental Illness” and the set closing “Jessica.” Following a first encore of “Angel Band” and “Soulshine,” Haynes and his band worked a debut cover of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Pride & Joy” amid “Two Of A Kind, Workin’ On A Full House” to end the evening.
Next up for the tour is a stop in Northampton, Massachusetts tonight.
