Philadelphia’s The War On Drugs brought their current tour to Massey Hall in Toronto on Saturday night, where they honored a Canadian music legend. The War On Drugs ended the night by debuting a cover of Neil Young’s “Like A Hurricane” led by frontman Adam Granduciel and featuring fretboard fireworks that would make Neil proud.
The Neil Young cover came following a set that focused on material from the recently-released A Deeper Understanding. Granduciel & Co. also fit in five songs from Lost In The Dream and a cover of Warren Zevon’s “Accidentally Like A Martyr.” The War On Drugs had previously unveiled a tribute to Tom Petty in the form of “Time To Move On” three times this tour and had also busted out a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Tangled Up In Blue” for the first time since 2014.
