Last Wednesday night, Headliners Music Hall in Louisville hosted a tribute to a legendary rocker who recently passed away. Into The Great Wide Open: A Celebration Of Tom Petty featured My Morning Jacket members Jim James, Patrick Hallahan and Tom Blankenship as well as Tony Esposito, Nick Wilkerson, Dante Schwebel, Adam Turla, Kate Toupin, Dawn Landers, Johnny Berry, Joe Manning, Cheyenne Mize, David Bird and many others.

A house band backed many of the evening’s performers. The action started with the house band performing “The Waiting” before Manning came out to sing “Here Comes My Girl.” Next up was Tyler Lance Walker Gill on “Refugee.” Landers and Blankenship then led “You Wreck Me” before Jim James sang “Don’t Do Me Like That.” James also fronted the group on “Breakdown” and dueted with Landes on “Listen To Her Heart.” Other numbers performed included Bird on “You Got Lucky,” Schwebel and Manning on “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” Scott Carney on “Don’t Come Around Here No More.” The set concluded with Esposito’s “American Girl” and a Toupin-led “Free Fallin'” ahead of an encore featuring all of the evening’s musicians on Traveling Wilburys gems “Handle With Care” and “End Of The Line.”
