Videos & Full Show Audio: Ween Makes Lockn’ Festival Debut

By Andy Kahn Aug 27, 2016 8:01 am PDT

On Thursday night, the annual Lockn’ Festival opened with its first night of music, headlined by Ween who were making their debut at the event held at Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia. Facing sweltering heat, the recently reunited quintet delivered a 26-song career spanning performance, which can be streamed below in its entirety.

JamBase editor Scott Bernstein is on site at Lockn’ and shared these thoughts regarding Ween’s Thursday night performance:

Those who thought Dean & Gene Ween would play their most accessible material for a crowd that was likely filled with newcomers to their music thought wrong. Ween went the deliciously weird route focusing on rarities throughout the 26-song performance. The five-piece did nod to the improvisational spirit of the festival by dusting off “Poopship Destroyer,” though Ween’s idea of jamming is very different from many of the other acts at Lockn’ with more focus on weird noise-rock than skilled chops.

Taper Chris King posted his recording of Ween’s headlining Lockn’ set from Thursday night. Stream it below followed by audience-shot video highlights of the band’s debut at the festival.
