Earlier this month Sting appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote his Broadway play, The Last Ship. Those in the studio audience at 30 Rock were treated to a performance they’d never forget as Sting teamed up with The Roots for a version of a The Police classic.

During The Roots warmup, Sting sat-in with the band for a stirring rendition of “When The World Is Running Down, You Make The Best Of What’s Still Around.” Only those in the audience were able to witness the phenomenal performance as it didn’t air in the telecast. Thankfully, The Tonight Show has released footage of the Sting/The Roots summit:

The Roots drummer Questlove is a huge Police fan, who even flew out to Los Angeles back in 2007 to witness the reunited Police’s press conference and performance at the famed Whisky A Go Go.
