Usher Joins The Roots At Unannounced Brooklyn Bowl Show

Thursday night at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City usually means a late night Bowl Train session DJ’d by Questlove of The Roots. Last night was not the typical Bowl Train as The Roots themselves appeared to back vocalist Usher during an unannounced surprise set.

Questlove was dropping hints on social media throughout the day, leading to speculation about last evening’s event. The surprise performance served as a warm-up for this weekend’s Roots Picnic which will feature Usher headlining the night once again backed by The Roots. Last night’s surprise show included a cover of “Adore” by Prince as well as Usher originals “Yeah!,” “OMG,” “Caught Up,” “U Don’t Have to Call” and others.

The ninth annual Roots Picnic takes place at Festival Pier in The Roots’ hometown of Philadelphia tomorrow, Saturday, June 4. Below watch audience-shot footage of last night’s concert featuring Usher and The Roots at Brooklyn Bowl.
