Unlikely Pair Of Skrillex And Warren Haynes To Talk Grateful Dead At Conference

There’s no doubt the Grateful Dead were ahead of their time when it came to cultivating a diehard fanbase using grassroots methods. Literally, books have been written about the Dead’s pioneering efforts in the music industry. Both Jerry Garcia and Co.’s music and business style have inspired many of the acts who came after them and apparently that includes EDM giant Skrillex.

Skrillex will be a panel member at November’s 10th Annual Billboard Touring Conference in New York City for a Keynote Case Study on the Grateful Dead. Joining Skrillex will be Warren Haynes, former GD manager Rock Scully, AM Only agent Lee Anderson, Windish Agency agent Sam Hunt and Another Planet Entertainment president Gregg Perloff. Jonathan Levine of Paradigm will moderate the discussion.

“There is a lot to be learned from the Grateful Dead, and this session will feature not only the people who were there as the band blazed the trail, but also artists and touring pros who are taking these practices to a new level in this age of information,” says Ray Waddell, Billboard’s executive director of content and programming, touring and live entertainment in a Billboard article announcing the panel. “This is the type of session one could not see anywhere else, and we’re proud to host it at our 10th annual Conference.”
