Umphrey’s McGee presented a series of three “Wrapped Around Nashville” livestream concerts originating from drummer Kris Myers‘ Rocktopus’ Garden home studio in Nashville this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The band posted pro-shot video of the near-19-minute “Wizard Burial Ground”/”Ocean Billy” pairing that opened the second set on Thursday.
The sextet followed a first frame devoted to songs voted on fans and had a treat in store to kick off the closing frame. “We are going to play the top vote-getting songs right now,” guitarist Brendan Bayliss revealed at the start of the video/set. Umphrey’s then lit into the metal-heavy instrumental “Wizard Burial Ground.” However, the band quickly transitioned into jam vehicle “Ocean Billy.”

Guitarist Jake Cinninger took a solo that gave way to full-band improvisation. Umphrey’s explored plenty of terrain over the course the 14-minute “Ocean Billy” and alternated tempos throughout. The six-piece would go on to finish “Wizard Burial Ground” to end the livestream concert.
