Umphrey’s McGee Show In Chicago Postponed Due To Weather

By Jeffrey Greenblatt Jul 22, 2017 8:48 am PDT

Last night Umphrey’s McGee returned to their hometown of Chicago for a scheduled two set show at the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans in store for the prog-jam act as the band was only able play for a little less than an hour before the gig was halted due to inclement weather.

Prior to the start of the show Umphrey’s took to Twitter to announce that doors would be delayed because of the threat of severe weather that was coming through the area. The show eventually kicked off with an opening set from up and coming jam act Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, with Umph taking the stage around 7:45 PM local time.

The Chicago-based band opened the night with a potent “There’s No Crying In Mexico” > “All In Time.” The rest of the band’s abbreviated set included takes on “Speak Up,” and a non-stop segue-filled stretch of “Preamble” > “Mantis” > “Cut The Cable.” “The Linear” ended up being the last song of the night as the band was forced to end the show as safety became as concern with heavy rain, high winds and hail that plagued the Windy City last night.

Umphrey’s McGee took to their Twitter account as the weather moved through and forced the cancellation posting the following messages with the promise of a make-up show.

Watch pro-shot video of “There’s No Crying In Mexico” > “All In Time” from last night’s weather-shortened show on Umphrey’s McGee’s Facebook page, and see the setlist below:
