Umphrey’s McGee Busts Out ‘Last Train Home’ In Knoxville
By Andy Kahn Oct 24, 2019 • 10:02 am PDT
Umphrey’s McGee covered Pat Matheny’s instrumental “Last Train Home” for the first time in over two years during their concert last night. The bust out occurred during the second set of their show at The Mill & Mine in Knoxville, Tennessee.
UM opened the second half of the concert with their classic “All In Time.” The group’s most played original was followed by their 19th live performance of the rarely played Matheny cover. The group’s last “Last Train Home” came during a VIP set at Summer Camp in May 2017 – a span of 256 shows between appearances. The bust out was trailed by “Rocktopus” and “In The Kitchen,” followed by the pairings of “Den” with “Booth Love” and “Bad Friday” with the ending of “All In Time.”
Prior to that, Umphrey’s McGee’s first set kicked off with “Le Blitz” into “Space Funk Booty.” Next was a coupling of “Little Gift” with UM’s second most played original “2×2.” Wednesday’s first set was filled out with “Push & Pull” and the stringing together of “Robot World” with “Loose Ends” and the closing “The Fussy Dutchman.”
