Umphrey’s McGee And STS9 Kick Off Tour In Louisville

Last night JamBase favorites Umphrey’s McGee and STS9 kicked off a two-week tour together at The Palace in Louisville, KY. The two bands’ LDs, Jefferson Waful and Saxton Waller, collaborated on designing a huge lighting rig that both acts employed at the historic venue.

UM took the stage first and delivered an improv-heavy set that included a rare take on The Police’s “Miss Gradenko.” Also of note, Mantis outtake “TQ Funeral” has been renamed “Amble On” and served as the filling of last night’s “Der Bluten Kat” sandwich. STS9 closed out the evening with a career-spanning set that featured classics such as “Moon Socket,” “Arigato” and “Simulator.” When Tribe returned for an encore, they brought out Umphrey’s guitarist Jake Cinninger for a cover of “Sympathy For The Devil” by The Rolling Stones that served as the first collaboration of the tour.

The tour rolls on to Indianapolis tonight and Chicago on Saturday. You can stream Saturday’s show via a live webcast.
