Twiddle Welcomes Guests For Each Night Of 3-Show New York City Run

Vermont jam act Twiddle held court at Irving Plaza in New York City for a three-night stand that spanned Thursday through Saturday. Twiddle shared the stage with multiple guests at each night of the run.
Thursday’s show opened with a collaborative “Twidalia” set in which Twiddle was joined by fellow Vermont band Madalia for a series of covers including Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman,” Toots & The Maytals’ “Pressure Drop” and “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye. Twiddle proceeded to play two sets focusing on originals highlights by extended versions of “Subconscious Prelude,” “Gatsby The Great” and “Dr. Remidi’s Melodium” before ending the night with a cover of “La Bamba.”
On Friday, Twiddle was joined by the Giant Country Horns for each and every song played in the first set. The Giant Country Horns feature Dave “The Truth” Grippo, Carl Gerhard and Russ Remington and have performed together sporadically since accompanying Phish on their 1991 Summer Tour. Friday’s first set featured the horns adding to “Orlando’s,” “Moments,” “Brick Of Barley” and more. Twiddle’s second set on Friday included such beloved originals as “Jamflowman,” “Carter Candlestick” and “When It Rains, It Pours.”
Saturday’s finale consisted of one lengthy set. The group opened with “Zazu’s Flight” and “Every Soul” before welcoming talented young guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer on “Mamunes The Faun,” “Syncopated Healaing,” “Milk” and “Apples.” From there, Twiddle connected their own “Atlantic Mocean” with a cover of ALO’s “Barbecue.” Niederauer returned for “Drifter” and added to a cover of John Prine’s “Angel Of Montgomery” that also featured Turkuaz vocalist Shira Elias. The evening, and run, came to a close with Twiddle joined by Taz and Turkuaz drummer Michaelangelo Carubba for “Latin Tang.”
