Trey Anastasio Debuts New Song For ‘Rubber Jungle Live’ On SiriusXM Phish Radio

Trey Anastasio delivered a solo set dubbed Rubber Jungle Live from his apartment in New York City on SiriusXM’s Phish Radio on Friday. The guitarist debuted a new song, “A Little More Time,” and more.

Anastasio kicked off the set with “Sigma Oasis,” the tail end of which saw Trey getting right into some looping of his rhythm guitar part and soloing a bit and also riffing vocally. Anastasio then welcomed listeners, “Rubber Jungle Live, this is what I do…for fun. So I’m glad you’re with me.” Trey then went back into the “Sigma Oasis” riff and fittingly teased Guns ‘N’ Roses’ “Welcome To The Jungle” before dropping into the Trey solo acoustic debut of “Lost In The Pack” from his quarantine solo album, Lonely Trip. “Driver” would come next ahead of another Lonely Trip acoustic debut of “Evolve,” which was first unveiled live at the Beacon Jams, as per Phish.net. After “More,” Trey delivered a humorous impromptu song called “Getting Ready For Tour.” “I played the song ‘More,’” he sang. “Getting ready for tour…so bust out your glow sticks/but only the safe ones/we don’t want anybody to lose an eye.” Classic Trey.

Anastasio then performed Kasvot Växt’s “Turtle In The Clouds” which trickled into a shimmering bit of music titled “Welcome To The Jungle” (not the GNR song). “Brian & Robert” (“BNR”) emerged from “Welcome To The Jungle” ahead of the Trey solo acoustic classic “Snowflakes In The Sand,” which Anastasio debuted in May 1999. Trey then unveiled “A Little More Time.” If “Getting Ready For Tour” speaks of the excitement of getting back out on the road, “A Little More Time” maybe spoke to the apprehensiveness of returning to the wider world. A contemplative, very relatable song to be sure. “A Little More Time” was tempered by Lonely Trip’s “When The Words Go Away,” which comments on the detriments of isolation, which Trey addressed after playing the tune which led him into another impromptu debut called “Tour Bus Window.” “Say It To Me S.A.N.T.O.S.” came next ahead of set closer, the first acoustic performance of the Trey Anastasio Band rarity “Quantegy.”
