As reported, Jack and Rachel Antonoff hosted the star-studded Ally Coalition Talent Show benefit for their organization supporting LGBTQ youth last night at New York City’s NYU Skirball Center. Trey Anastasio was among the surprise performers and the Phish guitarist’s appearance included a duet with Jack Antonoff on The National’s “Bloodbuzz Ohio.”

“My family is from Burlington and Trey is from Burlington,” Jack Antonoff said towards the start of the cover before adding, “And it’s the coolest to be on stage with him.” Jack sang lead with Trey delivering harmony vocals as he strummed his Languedoc guitar. Anastasio and Antonoff traded licks at multiple points of the song.

The National’s Matt Berninger and Aaron Dessner co-wrote “Bloodbuzz Ohio” with Padma Newsome. A studio version appeared on the band’s fifth studio album, 2010’s High Violet. Anastasio joined The National for “Bloodbuzz Ohio” and four other songs at The Beacon Theatre in New York City on December 16, 2011.
