Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio shared video featuring a performance of “The Moma Dance” from his The Beacon Jams series of livestream concerts. Anastasio fronted an ensemble mainly consisting of members of the Trey Anastasio Band for “The Moma Dance,” which was played at The Beacon Theatre in New York City during the November 13th installment of The Beacon Jams.
“The Moma Dance” featured Trey along with the evening’s core ensemble of keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, drummer Russ Lawton, bassist Tony Markellis, percussionist Cyro Baptista and vocalists Jennifer Hartswick, Celisse and Jo Lampert. Anastasio and company performed the song after the opening run of “You Enjoy Myself,” “The Silver Light” and “Winterqueen.”

While Phish debuted “The Moma Dance” on June 30, 1998, the version played at The Beacon Jams marked the first time Trey had performed the song with any of his solo projects. The Beacon Jams rendition was notable for the stunning vocal arrangement sung by Hartswick, Celisse and Lampert. Proceeds from the livestream series went towards the Divided Sky Fund. Over $1 Million was raised during the residency to help establish an addiction rehabilitation center in Vermont.
