Trey Anastasio shared pro-shot video of the rendition of Phish classic “You Enjoy Myself” that kicked off his latest The Beacon Jams livestream concert. A “YEM” unlike any other served as the opener of Trey Anastasio's November 13th performance at The Beacon Theatre in New York City.
The 15-minute “You Enjoy Myself” began with Anastasio accompanied by pianist Jeff Tanski and the Rescue Squad Strings (Anja Wood on cello, Rachel Golub on viola and Katie Kresek and Maxim Moston on violin). The rest of the band comes in just in time for the “Boy, Man, God, Shit” section, which was sung at first as “Boy, Woman, God, Shit” on Friday night by vocalists Jennifer Hartswick, Jo Lampert and Celisse.

Anastasio’s core band for the evening consisted of the vocalists, drummer Russ Lawton, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, bassist Tony Markellis and percussionist Cyro Baptista. The Rescue Squad Strings contributed to a handful of numbers including “You Enjoy Myself” and Tanski also performed on the world premiere of “Mercy.”
The “You Enjoy Myself” on Friday came to a close with a fierce Trey solo and Anastasio teaming with the singers for a vocal jam while the strings played underneath. Watch the entire version below:
