Tré Burt Announces New Album ‘Traffic Fiction’ & Shares Euphoric ‘Santiago’ Single

Singer-songwriter Tré Burt will release a new album entitled Traffic Fiction via Oh Boy Records on October 6. Along with announcing tour dates in support of the pending album, Burt shared its lead single, “Santiago.”

Burt recorded the follow-up to 2021’s You, Yeah, You with producer Andrija Tokic at The Bomb Shelter recording studio in Nashville. Burt began work on the album during demoing sessions held at a friend’s apartment while on tour in Canada. Additional solo demoing sessions were held over nine days in a rented rural Canadian cabin.

Burt will tour this fall in support of Traffic Fiction. After an appearance at September’s Rising Appalachia Festival, Burt will embark on a headlining run of shows across the United States and Canada throughout October. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 16 at 10 a.m. local venue time.

The death this year of Burt’s grandfather influenced Traffic Fiction. Press materials deemed the album “the music the two shared.” One of 14 tracks making up the Traffic Fiction tracklist, Burt detailed the development of the lead single “Santiago,” stating:

“The song actually started out as a writing prompt that my friend gave me over the phone during my solo writing retreats at the cabin. She said ‘write about Santiago’ and it ended up being a good stage to talk about some heartache I was going through. But it wasn’t just heartache, there was also a lot of joy which is why it sounds upbeat, I guess.”
