Trampled by Turtles performed songs from their upcoming new album, Alpenglow, as part of a live session hosted by Paste Magazine at the Pilgrimage Festival. The two-song set was recorded yesterday at the event held at The Park at Harlinsdale in Franklin, Tennessee.
Trampled by Turtles will release the Jeff Tweedy-produced Alpenglow on October 28 through Thirty Tigers. The band’s “Paste Studio On The Road” session saw live takes on the singles “On The Highway” and “Burlesque Desert Window.” At the end of the session, frontman/guitarist Dave Simonett briefly spoke about the experience of working with Tweedy.
“We were very honored to have Jeff produce the record, that’s for sure,” Simonett said. “He did an incredible job, I think we all felt that way. He was really great at helping us come up with new arrangements for all these songs, and coming at them and approaching them maybe in a different way than we would have on our own, which was exactly what we needed. It was a real joy to work with that guy.”
Watch Simonett, mandolinist Erik Berry, fiddler Ryan Young, banjoist Dave Carroll, bassist Tim Saxhaug and cellist Eamonn McLain performing their “Paste Studio On The Road” session at the Pilgrimage Festival below:
