Talking Heads members David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison and Tina Weymouth co-authored a new coffee table book, Talking Heads: New Feeling. Abrams will publish the 368-page collection on May 18, 2027.

Abrams describes New Feeling as the first authorized book by all four members, arriving 50 years after their debut album, Talking Heads: 77. The book’s loose chronology starts at the Rhode Island School of Design, moves through the group’s early days at CBGB in New York City, and runs through the band’s albums and international tours.

Each of the four members contributed an original essay. The book also includes handwritten lyrics for “Psycho Killer,” “Life During Wartime” and other songs, annotated concert playlists, album-cover sketches and film and video storyboards, including behind-the-scenes material from Jonathan Demme’s 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense and the Byrne-directed True Stories.

Personal, performance and studio photographs from the band’s recording years fill out the book. Essays from other musicians and writers include pieces by Jeff Bridges, Dave Eggers, Debbie Harry, Karl Ove Knausgaard, Lorde, Questlove and James Wolcott.

The four members of Talking Heads have appeared together several times in recent years, but have not performed together publicly since their 2002 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony. The band broke up in 1991.

Byrne, Harrison, Frantz and Weymouth came together for SiriusXM for the coffee table book announcement, part of which can be viewed below:
