Trampled by Turtles covered the Grateful Dead’s “Brown-Eyed Women” during their concert Thursday night at Red Rocks. The bust out performance featured frontman Dave Simonett’s step-daughter onstage singing with the band.
“Well, we’re going to play this old song that somebody else wrote,” Simonett told the audience midway into the evening’s set. “My step-daughter Eden would love to come up here and sing it with us, if that’s ok with you.”
Trampled By Turtles and their young guest vocalist then played “Brown-Eyed Women,” which the band had previously performed back in 2015, including at the Dear Jerry: Celebrating The Music of Jerry Garcia all-start concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion. TBT also played new songs “It’s So Hard To Hold On” and “Burlesque Desert Window,” which appear on the group’s forthcoming studio album, Alpenglow. It was the band’s first time playing “Burlesque Desert Window,” which is also the record’s newly shared single.
