Trampled by Turtles joined forces with Deer Tick to cover Townes Van Zandt’s “White Freightliner Blues” back on January 14 in Austin. Pro-shot video of the stellar collaboration from Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater has been shared on TbT’s YouTube channel.

The performance came as part of Trampled by Turtles and Deer Tick’s three-night run through Texas that also included stops in Houston and Dallas. “Well, you know we are in the state of Texas and we thought for these three shows we’re doing together here we’d do a little Townes Van Zandt,” Deer Tick singer/guitarist John McCauley told the crowd in Austin. McCauley then shared vocal duties on the Fort Worth-born Townes Van Zandt’s “White Freightliner Blues” with Dave Simonett of Trampled by Turtles.
