Legendary reggae performers Toots and the Maytals have announced their first tour together since 2013. The Jamaican outfit will appear during a run of North American West Coast dates in June as well as a lone stop in New York.
Led by the iconic Frederick “Toots” Hibbert, the renowned group last shared the stage together in May 2013. It was then during a performance in Richmond, Virginia that a glass bottle was thrown from the audience, striking and severely injuring Toots. The acclaimed frontman has been undergoing extensive physical therapy in the intervening time since the unfortunate incident.
“It has been a difficult three years,” said Hibbert. “But I am very happy to be able to now get back together with my musical family and prepare to share my music once again with my incredible fans.”
Toots And The Maytals will launch their tour on June 15 at The Observatory North Park in San Diego. They will continue up the coast with stops in Santa Ana, Los Angeles and Boonville, California, before moving north to Seattle and Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia. A final West Coast date is currently slated for July 24 in Portland, Oregon. The band will then make a trip to Queens, New York for an appearance at Groovin’ In The Park.
