Tool tinkered with their setlists across two shows in Auckland, New Zealand, performing multiple songs for the first time in over two decades. The band also covered Black Sabbath’s “Hand Of Doom,” which they performed earlier this year at Black Sabbath’s all-star “Back To The Beginning – The Final Show” event in England.
The first of two concerts at Spark Arena featured frontman Maynard James Keenan, drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones and bassist Justin Chancellor busting out “Crawl Away” from their 1993 debut album, Undertow, for its first live appearance since 1998. Tool also dusted off the Lateralus track “Disposition,” and the Ænima rarity “H.,” for their first performances since 2002.
The second show’s unexpected song selections included “Prison Sex,” off Undertow, landing its first setlist spot since 2002. Tool also offered a take on “Intension” from 10,000 Days, which marked its first public attempt since 2014.
Tool’s tour continues on Friday, November 28 when they begin another two-nighter at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia. Scroll on for videos of some of the bust outs posted from the Auckland shows.
