The four original members of Black Sabbath shared the stage for a final time at their “Back To The Beginning – The Final Show” all-star event held Saturday in Birmingham, England, where the influential band formed in 1968. Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward had not performed together in 20 years prior to the reunion at Villa Park.

The day-long concert event included Osbourne’s final solo performance as well. The 76-year-old has experienced numerous health issues in recent years and was seated in an ornate throne during his time onstage.

Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s music was heard throughout the day in the form of covers played during sets by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, Rival Sons and others.

Musical director Tom Morello led two all-star tribute sets featuring the likes of Billy Corgan, Steven Tyler, Ronnie Wood, Sammy Hagar, YUNGBLUD, Nuno Bettencourt and many more.

Osbourne’s set preceded Black Sabbath’s show-closing slot. The Prince Of Darkness’ solo segment saw him backed by Tommy Clufetos, Mike Inez, Adam Wakeman and Zakk Wylde. Osbourne’s setlist consisted of “I Don’t Know,” “Mr. Crowley,” “Suicide Solution” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” which had not been performed since 2018. His signature “Crazy Train” completed Osbourne’s final solo set.

Black Sabbath’s farewell followed with Butler, Iommi and Ward joining Osbourne for the opening “War Pigs.” The legendary band continued with “N.I.B.” and “Iron Man.” Black Sabbath chose “Paranoid” to be the final statement on their monumentally influential career.
