Legendary rocker Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers continued their 40th Anniversary Tour at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Friday night. Fellow Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer Joe Walsh kicked off the evening with a set featuring beloved material from his solo career and time in the Eagles and James Gang. Petty then led his troupe through a career-spanning performance that included one masterful hit after another.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have been honoring their four-decade career by opening with “Rockin’ Around (With You),” the first song off their studio debut. “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” came second in Newark as part of 17-song set that included such fan favorites as “You Got Lucky,” “I Won’t Back Down,” “Don’t Come Around Here No More,” “Learning To Fly” and “Yer So Bad.” The group ended the main set with a sequence of “I Should Have Known It,” “Refugee” and “Runnin’ Down A Dream” followed by a “You Wreck Me”/”American Girl” encore.
