Thievery Corporation Plays Dead In Bay Area

Of the many concerts to take place over the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago surrounding Fare The Well, one of the most impressive and out of left field was Thievery Corporation Grateful Dead tribute. The Washington, D.C.-based, genre-defying collective honored the Dead once more on Wednesday night, when they played the Fox Theater in Oakland.

Towards the middle of the band’s Bay Area performance, vocalist Puma Ptah stepped on stage to lead Thievery Corporation through “Fire On The Mountain.” The group debuted “Fire” in Chicago and have played it a few times since. There was one more Dead cover in store for the Oakland audience. As part of the encore, Argentinean vocalist Natalia Clavier fronted Thievery Corporation on “Dark Star.” Watch a pro-shot video from All Good which features “Dark Star”:

Tonight, Thievery Corporation performs with Cypress Hill at the Greek in L.A.
