The Smile will premiere their new album, Wall Of Eyes, at independent movie theaters around the world through a series of one-off events taking place January 18 – 25. The trio featuring Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet’s Tom Skinner also shared the pending album’s latest single, “Friend Of A Friend.”
The theatrical events, Wall Of Eyes, On Film, will feature the debut of acclaimed feature film director Paul Thomas Anderson’s video for “Friend Of A Friend.” Additionally, the screenings will feature a complete playback of Wall Of Eyes, presented for the first and only time in surround sound and accompanied by previously unreleased behind-the-scenes footage of the band recording the album.

Wall Of Eyes, On Film will also showcase the Anderson-directed video for the Wall Of Eyes title track, which like “Friend Of A Friend” was captured on 35mm film. The Wall Of Eyes, On Film events will further explore Anderson’s collaborations with both Yorke and Radiohead, such as the short film ANIMA and videos for “Daydreaming” (35mm), “Present Tense” and “The Numbers.”
The Smile will release Wall Of Eyes through XL Recordings on January 26. The Smile recorded Wall Of Eyes with producer Sam Petts-Davies in Oxford and at Abbey Road Studios in London.
