The Smile recently delivered a Live On KEXP session. The trio consisting of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood along with Sons of Kemet’s Tom Skinner performed tracks from their debut album, A Light For Attracting Attention, for the Seattle independent radio station’s performance series.

A Light For Attracting Attention arrived on May 13. With the studio album under their belt, The Smile have been focusing on presenting the songs in a live setting. The band’s first Tiny Desk Concert came out last week following the release of a live album, The Smile At Montreux Jazz Festival July 2022, which was released on December 14.

The Smile would swing by KEXP studios the day after Montreux came out (December 15) and well into their North American tour. Cooking from a month on the road, the trio kicked off their Live On KEXP session with a haunting, three-minute prelude leading into “A Hair Dryer.” The single, “Thin Thing,” followed ahead of “The Opposite.” Lead single “You Will Never Work In Television Again” featuring Robert Stillman on sax, counted as the penultimate song of the session before The Smile wrapped with “Open The Flood Gates.”
