New Orleans’ own The Revivalists closed out their debut at The Fillmore New Orleans on Thursday night with a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son” featuring special guests Roosevelt Collier and Andy Frasco. Collier played slide guitar during the sit-in, while Frasco was on keys.
The Revivalists were supported by at their homecoming show. When the band returned for the encore, frontman David Shaw told the crowd they “had something special for y’all” after welcoming Collier and Frasco to the stage. Then, the augmented ensemble lit into their first ever take on the song from CCR’s 1969 album Willy & The Poor Boys. Shaw channeled John Fogerty in singing the anti-war anthem. Roosevelt had multiple opportunities to solo and made the most of them.
