On and around this past Halloween, The Motet embarked on the Mixtape 1975 run in which they presented a batch of funky covers from that magical year in music history. The Colorado funk revivalists will bring the theme down to New Orleans for a special performance at The Howlin’ Wolf on May 3 featuring support from Meters drummer Zigaboo Modeliste’s Funk Revue.

Covers The Motet performed in Colorado as part of Mixtape 1975 included Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir,” The Temptations’ “Shakey Ground,” Pink Floyd’s “Have A Cigar,” War’s “Low Rider,” The Meters’ “Fire On The Bayou,” Earth Wind & Fire’s “Shining Star,” David Bowie’s “Fame” and Earth Wind & Fire’s “Sing A Song.” Mixtape 1975 at Howlin’ Wolf will be The Motet’s only tribute set in New Orleans.

The Meters’ drummer Zigaboo Modeliste will start the night with The 17th Annual Zigaboo’s Funk Revue featuring Renard Poche, Chris Severin, Kurt Brunus, Roderick Paulin and Tracy Griffen. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketweb.
