The Hatters Reunite For First Show In 18 Years

After The Spin Doctors and Blues Traveler scored commercial success in the early ’90s, major labels took note of the burgeoning jam scene and signed a number of bands such as God Street Wine, Rusted Root, the Dave Matthews Band and moe. to recording contracts. The Hatters, a group formed on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania in 1988, was another band that scored a major label deal as they put out three albums on Atlantic Records. Unfortunately, The Hatters -who were originally known as The Mad Hatters -didn’t last very long and parted ways in 1996.

Thankfully, The Hatters will return to the stage for the first time since 1996 at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on August 6. The members of the band were urged to reunite thanks in part to the efforts of fans who participated in a thread on Facebook asking for the return of The Hatters. The Hatters not only were capable of delivering blazing jams, but they knew had to craft a song as well. We’re excited to step back into those heady days of the early ’90s in NYC on the 6th.
