Paul McCartney’s Got Back Tour came to a close last night with a concert at London’s O2 Arena. McCartney was joined onstage by his The Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr and he also brought out The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
McCartney prefaced Wood’s appearance by switching to his 1961 Höfner bass guitar, which was stolen in 1972, and recovered earlier this year with the help of the Lost Bass project.
“I haven’t played it in 50 years,” McCartney said, adding, “And what is more, we’ve got a special guest for you here. A Rolling Stone. Ronnie Wood!”

As he has in the past, Wood then joined McCartney and his band on a performance of The Beatles’ “Get Back.” After the performance, McCartney shouted, “Thank you, Ronald!”

Ringo Starr emerged during Thursday’s encore. The two longtime friends and bandmates hugged each other before McCartney asked Starr if they should “rock” and then told him to “get behind his kit.”
McCartney and Starr then teamed up for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” The pair of legendary musicians exchanged more hugs and words of encouragement after the two-song collaboration.
“I’m off now but I’ve had a great night, love you all!,” Ringo said. “Especially this man [pointing to Paul].”
“It’s fantastic playing with me old mate,” McCartney added.
