A Tender Situation In Port Chester: Ween Kicks Off Capitol Theatre Run – Photos, Videos & Setlist

New Hope, Pennsylvania rockers Ween continued a reunion on Friday with the first of three consecutive shows at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. Guitarists Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo and Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman regrouped Ween back in February with drummer Claude Coleman, Jr., bassist Dave Dreiwitz and keyboardist Glenn McClelland. Ween has now played 21 shows together in 2016 following a breakup that spanned New Year’s Eve ’11 through this past February. On Friday Ween treated devotees to a 24-song main set and two-song encore that featured at least one tune from each of their nine official studio albums.

Ween opened Friday’s show with “Exactly Where I’m At” and followed with the biggest surprise of the night, the return of “Flutes Of The Chi” for the first time since February. The five-piece proceeded to barrel through such beloved favorites as “Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down),” “Take Me Away,” “Roses Are Free,” “Push Th’ Little Daisies,” “Ocean Man” and “I’ll Be Your Johnny On The Spot.” Gener, Deaner and Co. threw in a few rarities, namely “Boy’s Club,” “Tender Situation” and “Laura.” The band ended the main set with a “Demon Sweat” that saw Gener play keys. For the encore, Ween said farewell with “I’m Dancing In The Show Tonight” and “Don’t Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy).” Ween resumes the run at The Cap on Saturday night.
